Goteo

It is often said that history is written by the victors, but the reality is that for centuries, history has been written simply over the silence of women. This silence was not an absence of voice, but a lack of a place to keep it. Today, in the heart of the digital age, we face a philosophical paradox: we have never shouted so loud or so often, yet those shouts live in "houses" that do not belong to us. If the testimonies of our lives and our experiences of violence depend on an algorithm or the whims of a tech mogul, we run the risk of our memory being as fleeting as an infinite scroll.

At Goteo, we believe that feminism is, above all, a practice of permanence. It is not enough to say "me too" or "it’s over"; we need to ensure that the echo does not fade away. Preserving a historical archive of testimonies is an act of both poetic and political justice: it ensures that those who come after us do not have to start from scratch. It is about turning individual experiences into a collective truth that no one can erase, edit, or ignore. Because a people that does not own its own narrative is condemned to have its reality dictated by others.

From a spark to a collective liftoff

A few months ago, the Goteo community responded with overwhelming strength to the first phase of La Nuestra. More than 4,500 women became founders, proving that when we organize, human capital far outweighs any financial figure. Now, the project enters its most crucial stage: "La Nuestra Despega" (La Nuestra Takes Off).

This second campaign is not just a fundraising effort; it is the definitive step toward building our own infrastructure. The goal is clear: to create an independent and sovereign digital platform where the millions of data points and testimonies from movements like #Cuéntalo or #SeAcabó are safe from the censorship and deletion of conventional social networks.

A team of "Comadres" at the helm

While Cristina Fallarás was the initial spark behind this collection, La Nuestra is now a living organism driven by an interdisciplinary team of brilliant women putting their expertise at the service of all:

  • Almudena Rodríguez on political advocacy.
  • Eva Navarro leading the creation of an alternative, ethical AI.
  • Patricia Luján on the visual and communication concept.
  • Thais Ruiz de Alda on sovereign technological production.
  • Judith Membrives providing her vision on digital rights.
  • Flora Barberá designing an accessible interface.
  • Juliana Souza coding testimonies with scientific rigor.
  • Andrea Aldana on the editing and categorization of stories.

What does this campaign aim to achieve?

The project has very specific goals that need our collective support to materialize:

  • Develop a feminist AI: A tool that learns from real stories to connect communities and generate data that can transform justice and healthcare.
  • Digital sovereignty: Ending our dependence on big tech to have a safe space, free from bots and haters, where we can speak without fear.
  • A living archive: Categorizing and protecting the archive of testimonies to serve as a powerful tool against denialism.

Become a founder of this historical archive

From Goteo, we encourage you to participate in this second phase. At La Nuestra, every contribution holds the same political value: you all become Founders. Whether it is €20 or €200, what matters is the collective will to build this digital refuge together.

Additionally, remember that collaborating on this campaign offers tax benefits, making your support go even further.

Let’s not allow our history to depend on someone else's server. Let’s build our own.
